JOB TITLE: Development Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Executive Director 


GENERAL FUNCTION
Oversees, in cooperation with the Executive Director, the philanthropic development activities of TWC, including administrative oversight of special events, individual giving, direct mail, corporate giving, Foundation gifts, major donor cultivation and solicitation, planned giving, capital campaigns, etc.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the creation and execution of the entire Development plan and budget for TWC with input from Executive Director and Financial Development Committee. 

2. In cooperation with the Executive Director and Program Director, identifies agency needs and conducts prospect research to support various TWC programs.

3. Creates, executes and evaluates a comprehensive TWC annual fundraising campaign to meet TWC’s annual budgetary requirements.

4. Identifies, develops and cultivates corporate, Foundation and individual prospects for further solicitation, in conjunction with the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors.

5. When applicable, writes grant proposals for new and private funding prospects, seeks out sponsors and underwriting for various TWC programs and events, works collaboratively on all event sponsorship with the Special Events Coordinator, to ensure a consistent message and effort.

6. Provides staff management for the Financial Development Committee, and assigns, in cooperation with the Committee Chairs, all tasks, timelines, etc. to Committee members, as well as assisting with determining appropriate Board gift levels.

7. Develops and executes annual mail appeal, Guardian of Hope campaign, and any other ongoing TWC fundraising efforts.

8. Establishes and executes donor acknowledgement policies, guidelines, etc. and implements a full donor recognition program in conjunction with these policies. This includes but is not limited to policies regarding timely thank-you letters, levels of giving, etc.

9. Develops an effective donor recognition program for TWC, within budgetary guidelines and in cooperation with the Board and the Executive Director.

10. Develops and maintains the donor database, and assures that donor information is updated in a timely and correct manner.

11. Works closely with Public Relations Coordinator and Special Events Coordinators, to ensure that all print materials pertaining to donor acknowledgement are as accurate as possible prior to final printing.

12. Coordinate with the Executive Director on print materials to be used in development, including e-newsletters, annual report and other documents as assigned.

13. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of the South Florida philanthropic community preferred. Proven and documented track record with a minimum of 4 years experience in nonprofit fundraising programs, including major gift solicitation, capital campaigns, annual campaigns, and planned giving. Familiarity with accepted philanthropic techniques and vehicles. Excellent and collaborative communication abilities, ability to work effectively in supervising volunteers and others in a supportive yet directive manner; ability to identify donor targets for various programs and to effectively cultivate those prospects; ability to develop and adhere to annual budgetary guidelines.

Salary commensurate with experience.
